My name is Sylvia Parsons. I'm a (former) lawyer who lives in Denver and who loves to write. I studied history and political science at Yale, went to Columbia Law School, and practiced corporate law for a short time at a big law firm in New York City. I left to work at a globalization and development think tank and subsequently studied at Harvard for a doctorate in international history. I decided to leave the Ph.D. program with a masters (I'm technically "all but dissertation") and move to Washington, D.C., where I worked in the U.S. Senate and Commerce Department.
I can eat my weight in sushi and raw oysters and mac 'n cheese.
I clearly like flannel shirts.

I grew up in Ohio and have lived in Massachusetts, New York (City -- twice), Washington D.C., Colorado, Texas, and California.
I'm a classically trained pianist and violinist, but these days, I mostly just sing to my daughter. I love indie and bluegrass music, and I'm teaching myself to play the banjo.
I LOVE to travel. In the six years that my husband, J, and I have been together, we've traveled to Japan (Okinawa and Tokyo), Singapore, Malaysia, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Korea, and all over the United States.
I'd love to hear from you at ranchandchickens [at] gmail [dot] com.
